The generic title of this series - Landscapes after the Massacre - is inspired by the void of the landscapes in Rwanda after the Tutsi genocide and also more broadly by the emptiness of landscapes after other dramatique events. There is a reference to my work on places of memory in Rwanda but the theme is also an excuse to revisit the classical genre of landscape painting. The beauty of the landscape comes nevertheless - in this case - from the absence of humans and of humanity...
